Tribal Beat Collection: SDHE SPRING FASHION SHOW
This collection was created for the School of Design and Human Environment Spring Fashion at Oregon State University. I was inspired by Aztec art and the geometry of tribal print. From this inspiration I created simple silhouettes that had hard lines to emphasize the geometry found in tribal art.
All my designs were created by method of pattern drafting. I drafted patterns for each piece and sewed mock ups to be fitted to my models. After altering my patterns to reflect the changes to fit my model I created the final designs in fashion fabric.
We were told to create a line that was ready to wear and marketable to a final consumer. My target market is young professional women between ages 20-30 who are breaking into their careers and are looking for pieces that could be worn for work and mixed with more fun pieces for evenings out in the city.
Before my collection was presented on the runway I had the opportunity to present my line and inspiration to industry professionals for feedback. This was a great experience that helped me feel comfortable talking about my designs which will help with my future career.
