Trashin' Fashion: Recycled Fashion Show 2014
Oregon State University puts on a fashion show each year in which designers must utilize recycled materials in order to create apparel. For my design I created a dress using a sloper I created in draping class in the past and old magazines. I started by weaving strips of magazines and using modge podge to keep the strips stuck together. I did this to create a type of woven "fabric" out of magazine pages. Next I used these swatches to cover the existing dress to create a fashion fabric and texture to the garment. For the skirt I decided to use pages of the magazine the way they were to create a contrast from the bodice. I created this garment in my draping course for a grade and also entered it into the University's fashion show.
