Fashion Styling
I took fashion styling as a course at Regent's University in London while studying abroad. Each week we were given a theme for the basis of our photo shoots. Throughout the week we filled a sketchbook with inspiration as well as our final photos. For the midterm we were to create a studio shoot based on zoology. I decided to depict birds of paradise. Using bird like poses and the idea that birds like shiny things, I promoted women's wear as well as jewelry in my fashion spread. For our final project we were to choose someone famous in history. I chose Joan Crawford, a famous actress, and focused on her career in the 1920's. I used the British Library as a beautiful backdrop for this shoot. My photo shoot turned out to be an elegant promotion of women's wear. Throughout the term we had smaller assignments such as advertisements which I created through photo shopping a scanned piece of fabric over the face of a woman wearing sunglasses. This was an interesting way to showcase the sunglasses, while following the guidelines for the week which was mutation. Another advertisement I created was one of a handbag I purchased in Italy. I photo shopped the handbag into a photograph I took while visiting Italy to create a quirky advertisement. This class gave me knowledge of how to style outfits for fashion shoots and allowed me to utilize my Photoshop skills.
