Flat Pattern Design
I took Flat Pattern course Fall 2013. In this course I learned how to take a design concept from start to finish. We were asked to pick a time period to research and create a line based on. I chose 1885 and researched photos in Harper's Bazaar from the time period. I took design elements such as the bustle and v shapes found in women's garments and translated it into modern looks. I learned how to take slopers and create flat patterns to bring my designs to life. We were required to make a pattern, muslin mock up, point of measurement sheet, and garment construction page.
Skills Used:
Basic Sewing: Sewed muslin mock ups of designs
Adobe InDesign: Created tech sheets (point of measurements and garment construction)
Adobe Illustrator: Technical Flats
Flat Pattern: Learned to make patterns based on slopers of different sizes 8-12
Point of Measurement: Measured each mock up to create a point of measurement tech sheet
